Is it good to have dirty hair before a chemical appointment?

No.  It is a common misconception that hair is supposed to be dirty, or oily, before getting your color done.  Having dirty hair actually makes it more difficult for the color to penetrate the hair and this is especially important when covering grays.

I take medication, will that affect my color results?

Some medications for conditions such as thyroid, blood pressure medications, cholesterol drugs, and antidepressants, can affect how chemicals like hair colors and lighteners process on the hair.  Smoking cigarettes can also affect how hair processes color.

Do you own a salon or rent a chair?

I rent a chair inside a salon in Huntington Beach that is owned by a local hairstylist couple.  They've since retired from the industry but still have a lot of love for their dear salon.

I'm proud to help maintain it for them, and couldn't be happier managing my small business inside the space!

What’s the salon space like?

A true 80’s vintage salon.  Throughout their 40 years of business, the owners of Beachcombers Hair Design Salon have styled the space with antique treasures reminiscent of the eclectic 80’s beach bum era.  A classic representation of our hometown here in Huntington Beach.

The salon is a quiet & lightly trafficked space as there are currently only a few stylists taking clients regularly, providing our guests respite from the busy hustle & bustle of life.

How do I get to the salon?

Beachcombers Hair Design Salon is located on the second floor of a large office building near the intersection of Brookhurst & Atlanta (next to the corner liquor store).  From the parking lot, walk up the staircase near the center of the building.  At the top of the stairs, turn right to walk into the hallway.  The salon is the first door on the right side (the suite number is not posted).

Is there parking?

Yes, there is a free parking lot right in front of the building.

What amenities can I take advantage of in the salon during my appointment?

  • Robes

  • Microfiber towels

  • Seasonal beverages

  • Bottled water

  • Free Wifi

  • iPhone charger

  • Scalp massages with every hair wash

How long should I expect to be at the salon?

This depends on the type of service you are having done; typical appointment duration:

  • Haircut (1hr)

  • Haircut + Blowout Style (1.5hrs)

  • Color Packages:

    • Refresh Me (2hrs)

    • Enhance Me (3hrs)

    • Elevate me (4hrs)

*Every head of hair is different, you can get an idea of how long your appointment will be by scheduling a consultation

What should I wear to my appointment?

Comfortable clothing is recommended.   A low neckline is best; collars & turtlenecks will get in the way and can potentially become stained with chemicals.  Robes are provided to protect your clothing - and make you feel luxurious!

What forms of payment do you accept?

Cash, Venmo, or Zelle.  No credit cards at this time, thank you.   IF use of a credit card is necessary, a 3-5% fee will be added at checkout.

Can I purchase products during my visit?

Yes.  I offer select Kevin Murphy and Unite products for sale in the salon.  You can see what's in stock online.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancel for free up to 48 hours ahead, otherwise you will be charged 30% of the service price for late cancellation or 50% for not showing up.

Please Note: If you need to cancel your appointment for any reason, all changes MUST be made by accessing  your Fresha account online.  At this time I am NOT able to cancel appointments on clients’ behalf without incurring a fee due to Fresha’s policy.  I apologize for the inconvenience.
